Every blog post is just like a web page in terms of search engine ranking. In this article, I will share some useful tips to for writing SEO optimized posts that will rank in search engines.

Step 1. Install Yoast SEO Plugin in WordPress:

Step 2. Brainstorm for keywords:

 Now, think about the keyword (s) for which you want to optimize a blog post. After drafting a post in, scroll down to the Yoast SEO optimization box. In focus keyword box, start typing the keyword that captures the theme of your article.Focus Keyord

Step 3. Create a post title/ meta title:

When crafting a post title, stays within the 66 character boundary limits. For instance, if you have not specified meta title in SEO box, then post title will be consider as a meta title. It is important to include your focus keyword in meta title.

Step 4. Write a post meta description:

Meta description plays an important role in search engine rankings. It summarizes what your blog post is all about. Under 156 characters, you need to add the focus keyword in writing description that is appealing enough for call to action (CTA).

Step 5. Optimize image using Alt attribute:

Google or other search engines can not read images. They only recognize text as an image for indexing. So, make sure that all your images have alternative or alt texts. Do not upload images with names like image01.jpg. Instead of this, give a proper name to your images that includes keyword for driving good results. In this way, whenever people will search for an image in a Google Image Search, they will land to your related blog post.

Step 6. Interlink old blog posts:

Step 7. Remove stop words from permalink:

When we create a new post title, we use a lot of stop words. For example, when we write the post with title like: “How To Write A Perfect SEO Optimized Posts In WordPress”, the post permalink (by default) will be like: “bloggingheat.com/how-to-write-a-perfect-seo-optimized-posts-in-wordpress”.

‘To’ and ‘a’ are stop words in the above given example. Kindly remove these stop words from permalink by editing it and use “seo-optimized-posts-wordpress” as a permalink.

Step 8. Make use of H1, H2, H3 for headings:

We should not ignore the most important aspect of SEO that is using H1, H2, H3 for headings. In default WordPress theme settings, every post title uses H1 tags.
